The parador "Alcazar del Rey Don Pedro" as it is known was built on the Alcazar de Arriba, one of the three moorish fortresses of the town. It was used as a residence by king Don Pedro I who turned it into a luxurious Palace, It was also the residence of the Catholic Monarchs during their camping against Granada.
